Week 8 – Final Reflection
In this final week, you will bring together everything you have explored throughout the course to reflect on your personal and academic growth. This is a time to critically evaluate your development and how this is shaping the scholar you are becoming. You will create a clear plan for the future – ready to move forward?
Learning goals for this week:
- Reflect on and integrate insights from the course to reflect on your growth with regards to your academic identity..
- Critically evaluate your development in academic skills, presence, and awareness.
- Create a clear plan for your future as an academic, based on your personal values, and vision.
Your task for this week:
- Final Reflection – Who are you becoming as an academic? (700-1000 words)
Over the past seven weeks, you’ve explored academic identity, values, voice, academic skills (like writing, presenting, emailing), and the ethical and social responsibilities that come with being part of a research or university community. This final reflection is a chance to pause, look back, and look forward.
Be honest, specific, and reflective. This isn’t about having all the answers – it’s about noticing the questions that matter to you now, and how your academic voice is beginning to take shape.
Identity and Growth
How has your understanding of what it means to be an “academic” changed since Week 1?
What aspects of the academic world now feel more approachable, and which still feel challenging or unfamiliar?
Your presence and purpose
How do you see yourself presenting your academic identity – in writing, in conversation, online, or in the classroom?
What values or principles now guide how you want to learn, work, or contribute in academic settings?
Looking forward
What practical tools, mindsets, or strategies from this course will you carry into your academic life?
What kind of academic do you want to become – not just in your field, but in how you relate to others, share knowledge, or engage with questions of inclusion and responsibility?
